• Part1 - First Week - English Version written by Rob

    Thursday September 6

I am writing this while Filipe and I travel on the greyhound to Sydney N.S. Where we will catch a ferry to Newfoundland. Our journey so far has been really fun and full of adventures.

On Sunday September 2 we took the train to Montreal and arrived at 11:00pm. After smoking a joint we headed for a bar called Foufounes Electriques. Montreal was fun we watched a wrestling match in the bar, drank, played pool, fooseball (babyfoot), and bummed around town until the bus for Amherst at 6 am. By the time we got on the bus we were pleasantly toasted and drunk so we slept well for the 12 hour ride.

We arrived in Amherst on September 3, stayed in a campground smoked, drank vodka, toasted hot dog wieners and made stew over the fire under the stars. Sept 4th we showered at the campground where we had to pay 25 cents for cold watter. This wasn't an easy and I'm sure would have been humorous to watch. I'm sure everybody in the campground heard our shrieking and complaining. Filipe kept yelling in distress, “Why do I have to pay 25 cents!
    Next we headed to Charlottetown.
Upon arriving we stashed our bags in behind a warehouse and covered them with branches. The two of us walked all around Charlottetown, had fish and chips in some traditional family restaurant, went to the harbor, a park and the cemetery and toked a bit. Tripping around  town we stumbled across a sand   sculpture competition we got inside for $2.50 because the lady said she gave us the kids rate. The sculptures were brilliantly carved out of a unique red tinted sand which lines the shores and scatters and blows all throughout P.E.I.. Later that night we carried on to find the local tavern and nightclub. There was a band playing in the tavern and bartender was really nice in the night club. We chatted and mingled and Filipe almost convinced me to enter a karaoke competition with him to win $75(luckily we were to drunk to figure out how to enter). After the club we went to a small house party and proceeded to get wasted out of our minds. The party was ok from what I remember. There were conversations had and a few beers,  joints and girls moving around but mostly it was a place for us crash or wait until our morning bus. It was a hard walk to get to our bags and then to the bus station on time for 7:30am. Filipe stole a bike and we made our way down the road stuffing our faces with junk food from the corner store. Eventually we managed to get on the bus again and headed to Halifax.

We got to Halifax on September 5th . We had slept well on the bus but felt a little rough so we go a hostel room for the night. We showered up walked around the downtown. I personally really liked Halifax I thought it was a decent size and a friendly city. It's a port city built up on the side of a hill. Later we joined a pub crawl that the hostel hosted which turned out to be a surprisingly huge amount fun.  We played some name games, went to a few bars, got to know everybody real well, and we talked to lots of other people in the pubs. We met some people that were in a Wednesday night drinking club, saw a decent rock/blues band and went to a karaoke bar. Afterwards we broke every rule in the hostel and brought every body to the patio to drink vodka and smoke joints and make lots of noise until we ran dry. Everybody was so drunk and we all had such a good time together we almost stayed another night but we didn't. We decided to have to journey on. We parted with kisses and hugs and email exchanges and carried on into the unknown. God only knows what we will find in Newfoundland.

    Sunday September 9.

After taking a 7 hour bus from Halifax to Sydney N.S. We jumped on an eight hour ferry to newfoundland. During our midnight crossing we couldn't see much but the lights of Sydney behind us and dark black and silent void in front of us. The ferry ride was decent. The boat had multiple decks to explore, video games, a restaurant and even a bar (which was closed).  Filipe discovered that the daycare room was completely empty so we used it as our own personal cabin. The room was equipped with power outlets to charge my laptop, cellphone, and filipe s Ipod, leather couches, and a T.V. (Which we watched a Wallace and Gromit movie on). As we approached Port aux Basques we got up early , stood out on the deck and were presented with an enchanting view. The sun began to rise and lift away the morning mist reveling a pictures community on a rocky hill. Colorful matchbox houses overlooking the eastern shores and grass covered islands stood at the base of  lush green mountains that rose up piercing the into clouds. It took us twelve hours to cross the island but it was so beautiful and dynamic the ride wasn't that bad. We even tried to get off the bus half way across to camp but to our frustration were denied by the driver.
